NOTE: I'm coming up on the end of two weeks without any low-carb products, cutting out my supplements, reducing my diet soda and all those other things "we all know you're supposed to do" if you wanna lose weight. NOT! I've lost nothing despite doing everything exactly perfect. I have received a lot of great encouragement from people along with advice about what to do next. This is not panic time for me because I am still eating a very healthy high-fat, low-carb lifestyle that I LOVE and ENJOY! However, there could be some tweaks I'll need to make to reduce calories which is why I am going to start my second-time-around intermittent fast tomorrow night. The last time I did this, I lost 4 1/2 pounds, although I hated it. We'll see how it goes from here. There's still a chance that this slight weight gain has nothing to do with my diet at all, but rather the combination of added muscle from weight lifting and an underlying internal issue that has been with me my entire life. We'll know more soon. In the meantime, I'll keep doing what I know how to do: that's livin' la vida low-carb, baby! :D

I'm doing the IF thing as well. I am on my 2nd day or i guess my 1st fast day. I am doing 2 or 3 meals a day until 6pm and fasting until 6pm the next day. Going about 85 or 90% low carb allowing for 2 meals a week as free meals because quite frankly i miss pizza 2 much on a low carb diet!
And yes i have tried other "low carb pizza recipes" and no it's not nearly the same! Good luck Jimmy!

Thanks for your history and your willingness to share. Just let me say that I also follow a low carb diet for my diabetes but after looking at yours I think I see your problem. You are eating way too many fats. The salad dressing is most likely loaded with fat, the cheese has fat, the sausage has fat. My suggestion is to eat a lot of salad with a "little" low fat dressing with a protein. I'm 5'11 and 220lbs and could never eat all of that food. My mantra is that if the label has single digit, fats, carbs and protein, and little if any sugars, its OK with me. Cut the volume of food and I think the weight loss may start.

I hate to disagree with anyone point of view but Fat is not the problem Jerry. Just reading all the evidence keeping an open mind about high fat intake as I think Jimmy knows to well. Fat is the only substance that wont turn into glucose in the body. Protien will. Fat will never make you fat.

Dietary creatine supplementation has been used to improve muscle performance. However, dietary creatine also affects glucose stability and since you had pancreas problem before, I would check out the pancreas again.
Take care buddy

Well, I disagree with Jerry. I'm no expert, but I lost 30 lbs doing Atkins by the book and I noticed the times when I was in deepest ketosis and dropped weight quickest was when I had avocado or low carb ice cream (both HIGH fat!). If I ever dropped out of ketosis when I was adding 5 carbs/week to see where I could hang for maintenance, I noticed that ice cream would always put me right back in. I remember calling the Atkins line when I was sitting at under 20/day and stuck on a plateau and they told me I was actually eating too little carbs and that it sent my body into starvation mode where I was "holding onto fat". Hi, I'm new here and just reading this website for the first time today. I did Atkins by the book a few years back and went from a size 16 down to size 8 (that's 30 lbs)
I managed to keep it off for about a year and a half until I got pregnant with a couple more babies. Now, I just got the ok from the pediatrician to go ahead and do Atkins again even though I'm nursing. He doesn't think the ketosis will hurt the baby since he's 10 months old and is getting other food besides just my milk.
I hope I'm not coming in sounding too know-it-all-ish when I say,
"I have to disagree with Jerry."
Whenever I dropped out of ketosis, nothing put me back into it better than eating an avocado or some low carb ice cream! I was actually told by the folks at Atkins that I was eating too LITTLE carbs when I was stuck on a plateau. They said that too little put me into "starvation mode" and my body wouldn't give up the fat for anything unless I ate more. (I was eating less than 20/day at the time.)I added more carbs and WALA, I started loosing again. Good luck!
BTW...I think it may be too much protein in a sitting. I see alot of meat and eggs (more than I had) and didn't Dr. ATkins say, no more than about 3 oz at a time (or about a deck of cards size)? The reason behind it was that your body could only metabolize about that much and the excess turns into sugar to be stored as fat for later use. Colleen
