9:30PM
Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Bar, salt and vinegar pork rinds

10:30PM
DaVinci Raspberry syrup with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 265.2

NOTE: I decided to back off on the amount of exercise I would do today to see how I feel doing less. You know the old saying, "Less Is More?" Well, we shall see. My contract with my personal trainer is coming up for renewal and I'm debating whether I want to try to continue on my own or if I still need the direction of a personal trainer to help me continue the muscle-building I've started this past year. I haven't made up my mind yet, although I'd love to keep that fire burning in me to keep this up. I've got a couple of months to decide.

September 29, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

10:00AM
Atkins Milk Chocolate Delight Shake

11:30AM
Dreamfields pasta macaroni & cheese

2:15PM
Mixed berry Extend bar

4:45PM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

8:45PM
2 burger patties with American cheese and mayo

9:30PM
Sugar-free cheesecake with melted Dark Chocolate ChocoPerfection bar with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 265.6

NOTE: I challenged myself this afternoon when I decided to do something I've never done before--BACK-TO-BACK SPIN CLASSES!!! Yes, I ate my melon prior to doing this to make sure the dizzy spells would stay at bay. And I did pretty well, although I was doubly drenched in sweat by the end of that nearly two hours of spinning. If I do this again, I'm gonna bring a change of clothes for between the classes...I was so wet I rubbed a rash on my inner thighs. I know, TMI! But it was hard to pedal with all that squish squish, rub rub, OUCH OUCH! LOL! I survived!

September 28, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

9:00AM
Atkins Milk Chocolate Delight Shake

12:00PM
Spinach salad with eggs, bacon, cheese, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and Ranch dressing, mashed cauliflower with butter, small beef patty with cheese, pickle, and mayo

2:00PM
60-minute spin class

6:15PM
Spinach salad with eggs, bacon, cheese, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and Ranch dressing, small beef patty with cheese, pickle, and mayo, and fresh strawberries with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 264.4

NOTE: I made a mistake today prior to my spin class--I forgot to eat my fruit. As you know, one of the things I discovered during my stint at FitCamp in Nashville last month is that my "dizzy" spells during workouts are remedied when I eat some low-sugar fruits like berries or melons. And usually I do get this in my body ahead of time so I can stay strong through the entire workout. To be honest, I did GREAT for 50 minutes spinning my butt off in that class today, but then it hit me--wobbly, dizzy, and spinning round and round. Of course, as soon as this hit I stopped pedaling and sat up on the bike. The class leader checked to make sure I was okay and I just told her I was dizzy. She said I should go lie down, but I wasn't about to miss the BEST part of spin class--THE COOL DOWN! I took it easy those last 10 minutes and left the class perfectly fine. It's like I have a certain threshold for exercising hard before this kicks in. Normally the fruit helps, so I will remember the next time before I head for the gym. That would be tomorrow! :D

September 27, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

1:30PM
Spinach salad with eggs, bacon, cheese, sunflower seeds, and Ranch dressing, mashed cauliflower with butter, small beef patty with cheese, pickle, and mayo

6:15PM
Hamburger patty with American cheese and may

7:00PM
30-minute shooting basketball

8:00PM
Joseph's Sugar-Free Chocolate Chip cookies

9:00PM
Dreamfields pasta macaroni & cheese

CURRENT WEIGHT: 264.6

NOTE: I have been keenly attuned to my body ever since FitCamp and realize all the extra exercise I have been doing can take its toll on my body. So with that in mind, I made the decision to do something GOOD for my body today--REST! That's right! Other than a little playing around this afternoon shooting some casual hoops with the kids from the neighborhood, I didn't do any organized exercise today. I wanted to do some weight lifting or some other part of my regular routine, but today I needed to relax. And that's exactly what I did without any regrets either. I can hit it again starting tomorrow, but this was a good day to rest and let my body recover. It felt AMAZING and I'll be ready to go again starting tomorrow!

September 26, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

12:30PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, bacon and sausage

3:30PM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

4:00PM
30-minute self-guided weight lifting

6:45PM
Atkins Caramel Double Chocolate Crunch Bar

9:30PM
Side salad with mustard/ginger/soy sauce dressing, 2 shrimp, onions, zucchini, bean sprouts, mushrooms, and grilled chicken, scoop of rainbow sherbet

10:45PM

NOTE: I tried lifting today after giving my body three full days of rest and from the very start I could STILL feel my muscles sore from Tuesday's workouts. I took it easy and did less reps than normal and decided to save my full weight lifting workout for early next week. GOOD IDEA when you're still experiencing the muscle soreness, huh? :)

September 25, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

10:45AM
2 chicken breasts with American cheese, homemade salsa, and a low-carb La Tortilla Factory wrap

11:00AM
Atkins Milk Chocolate Delight Shake

2:15PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

5:00PM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

5:30PM
60-minute spin class

8:00PM
Spinach salad with eggs, bacon, cheese, sunflower seeds, and Ranch dressing, mashed cauliflower with butter, small beef patty with cheese, pickle, and mayo

9:00PM
Sugar-free cheesecake with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 269.4

NOTE: Something rather remarkable happened today and I don't think it's any coincidence. After taking a full day of rest yesterday from exercising, I went most of the day today continuing the rest from Tuesday's breakneck workout schedule. So, with almost two full days of rest, I went into my spin class this afternoon--and I was so strong! Usually after the first song, I'm sweating, and by the second song I'm burning hot and wet galore. But not today. The first song was a piece of cake and even after the second song designed as the leader says "to create heat in the body," I was warm, but not sweating. Eventually, I did start sweating and staying well-hydrated, but it was worth noting. And while I usually get exhausted doing the spin class, today was invigorating. COOL! That's the kind of benefits I like seeing from my exercise routines. No, it's not about weight loss or necessarily even my health that I'm exercising--it's about being fit, strong, and feeling GREAT! And that's precisely how I feel right now.

September 24, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

9:30AM
3 eggs cooked in butter with American cheese

1:45PM
Spinach salad with eggs, bacon, cheese, sunflower seeds, and Ranch dressing, mashed cauliflower with butter, small beef patty with cheese, pickle, and mayo

4:15PM
Lemon cheesecake (cream cheese, lemon juice, erythritol, heavy cream) with whipped cream

8:00PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

CURRENT WEIGHT: 267.0

NOTE: Oooooohhhh, my aching body! Wednesdays have become a day I look forward to since I stepped up my workout schedule because it's the one day I give my body a full day of rest. It's strange because before today I thought I would be able to add in a Pilates class today, but when I woke up and felt how sore and stiff my body was it was a definite NO. My abs, shoulders, and legs are killing me today...but I LOVE IT! I know the limits of my body and know when to take a break. And that's what I did today. And you'll notice that since I'm not working out today, my food and calorie intake were less. It stands to reason when you don't need as much fuel that you don't put it in your mouth. DUH!

September 23, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

9:30AM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

10:00AM
60-minute resistance training workout with personal trainer

2:15PM
Spinach salad with eggs, bacon, cheese, sunflower seeds, and Ranch dressing, mashed cauliflower with butter, small beef patty with cheese, pickle, and mayo

5:00PM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

5:30PM
60-minute spin class

6:45PM
2 chicken breasts with American cheese and mayo on 2 low-carb La Tortilla Factory wraps

7:00PM
120-minute recreational volleyball

9:30PM
Lemon cheesecake (cream cheese, lemon juice, erythritol, heavy cream) with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 264.0

NOTE: It was my "crazy" day of exercise today as I try to do every Tuesday to step up my workouts...one hour of lifting, one hour of spin, and two hours of volleyball. It's the most intense day of the week for my exercise routine, but I get a day off on Wednesday to recover. Today I asked my trainer to kick it up another notch with my weight lifting and have me lift heavier than I have been. I enjoyed it immensely although I'm sure I'll feel it on Wednesday. I made sure I ate my melon before lifting as well as before spin class. And I was concerned about volleyball, but made sure to eat before going...I was a little rubbery legged at first, but I caught a second wind within 30 minutes of being there. The good thing about working out this much is I slept like a log tonight! :D

Monday, September 22, 2008

September 22, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

9:15AM
2 chicken breasts with American cheese and mayo

9:30AM
30-minute step class

10:30AM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

1:15PM
8-ounce T-bone steak with A-1 sauce, tomato slices and a green leafy veggie, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter

2:45PM
Cinnamon cheesecake (cream cheese, cinnamon, erythritol, heavy cream) with whipped cream

6:15PM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

6:30PM
60-minute spin class

9:30PM
Dreamfields pasta mac & cheese, lemon cheesecake (cream cheese, lemon juice, erythritol, heavy cream) with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 263.0

NOTE: This morning I almost missed my step class because I was running late, so I wasn't able to eat my normal honeydew melon before the workout. I thought I'd be okay since I ate some chicken with plenty of fat in it to fuel me up. Unfortunately, about 20 minutes into the class I started getting woozy and by the end of 30 minutes I was spinning around so fast I had to leave class early. That stunk! It was a good lesson learned for me to make sure I get some melon or berries in me before I workout so vigorously. I try to do that before my spin classes and my weight lifting, too, to make sure the dizzy spell subside. The good news is my cough seems to be almost all the way better now since I started taking Claritin. Maybe it was allergies after all! That's a relief since I was beginning to wonder if it was a summer cold that wouldn't go away.

8:45PM
Atkins Caramel Chocolate Peanut Nougat Bar

9:15PM
Cinnamon cheesecake (cream cheese, cinnamon, erythritol, heavy cream) with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 262.6

NOTE: On Sundays I have to fight off the urge to be lazy. Is anyone else like that? I don't know what it is, but when I get home from church it seems like the first thing my body wants to do is lie down and take a nap. What is that? Is it an internal clock thing that just happens or is there something about working all week that builds and builds until your body needs the rest? I dunno, but it stinks sometimes when I have things I need to get done or a workout like my Sunday afternoon spin class to get ready for. Sometimes I fight through it and I'm fine and other times I just rest and give my body what it wants. Does this kinda thing happen to YOU?

September 20, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

8:30AM
2 grilled chicken breasts with American cheese and mayo

9:00AM
4 hours of refereeing youth football

10:30AM
Atkins Milk Chocolate Delight Shake

11:30AM
Atkins Caramel Double Chocolate Crunch Bar

2:45PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

5:00PM

6:30PM
Atkins Caramel Fudge Brownie Bar

8:45PM
2 grilled chicken breasts with American cheese, salsa, and Ranch dressing

CURRENT WEIGHT: 263.8

NOTE: Today my church started back the Fall youth football league called Upward and I once again volunteered to be a referee. It's a fun, but very physically demanding position because you have to run up and down the field with the kids, constantly bending over to pick up the cones designating the offensive and defensive lines of scrimmage as well as the rush line...needless to say, it's quite exhausting to officiate even ONE game. I did four in a row. Yes, I know--it's crazy, but I can handle it and it was a great time. The kids have a LOAD of fun and it's great watching a little 1st grade girl outrun all the boys as she crosses the goal line for a touchdown. One girl in particular ran all the way down to just before getting in the end zone, turned around and ran towards the other end zone running into it and then back around the other sideline and in for the score. Where else can you get this kind of FREE entertainment?! :D When I got home from Upward, I was beat. I really wanted to go lift weights today, but I didn't feel like it. And, yes, my coughing persisted out on the field today and I'm beginning to think it's allergies. I'll be going to buy some Claritin soon to see if it will help because this has gone on for far too long. I've never had allergies before, but perhaps I've got 'em now.

2:00PM
45-minute grass mowing

1/2 honeydew melon

6:45PM
12-ounce T-bone steak with A-1 sauce, mixed veggies, grilled shrimp with cocktail sauce, side salad with Ranch dressing

8:30PM
Two bites of lemon cheesecake (lemon juice, cream cheese, erythritol, heavy cream)

9:15PM
Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom low-carb Black Raspberry Dark Chocolate ice cream bar

CURRENT WEIGHT: 262.2

NOTE: It was busy today and I was hoping to get in some weight lifting today...it didn't happen! I did manage to mow my grass with a push mower that is not self-propelled. It's quite a workout and I enjoyed it although my coughing didn't need all that dust blowing up my nose. I got to eat a nice T-bone steak with shrimp for supper and it was pretty good. It had been a while since I'd eaten steak and I'm glad I got to eat some today. It's gonna be another long day tomorrow with lots planned, so we'll manage to squeeze in healthy eating and working out in there somewhere. :D

9:45PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage, no sugar added cheesecake with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 262.0

NOTE: I tried something today I'd never done before in my entire life--YOGA! I've seen people go through the moves before, but never really thought about doing it myself. My gym offered this class and I'm in an experimental mood right now looking for new exercise classes to attend to help me increase my flexibility and reduce stress. So this one seemed to fit the bill for now and it was SPECTACULAR!!! What a relaxing and somewhat challenging thing to put your body through and I will DEFINITELY be adding this into my routine. The release that came from these simple stretch moves was amazing and I only wish I had found this a long time ago. I'm thinking of trying another Pilates class soon, but I didn't like it when we did it at FitCamp. Maybe I'll give it another whirl soon.

10:30PM
Russell Stover Net Carb Chocolate Mousse Medallions

CURRENT WEIGHT: 264.2

NOTE: I took a day off from exercise today to recuperate my muscles as well as give my body a chance to fight off this cough that just doesn't want to go away. Some have suggested I take a full week off from working out to get all the way better and I don't think that's necessarily the answer. I know how to listen to my body when I'm exercising to back off on the intensity if it's making my cough worse. That's the luxury I have living a healthy lifestyle for nearly five years and counting now. I know my limits and like to push myself when I'm healthy. But doing that when you're sick is just plain dumb...and I wouldn't do it. But I am taking my rest when I need it like today and remaining committed to my regular fitness routine. Other than the coughing, I feel fantastic!

Side salad (lettuce, tomato, cheese, carrots, red cabbage) with Ranch dressing

9:30PM
Russell Stover Net Carb Chocolate Mousse Medallions

CURRENT WEIGHT: 264.8

NOTE: My volleyball was canceled tonight, but it was probably best that I didn't get in that two hours of exercise. After getting a little light-headed 45 minutes into my weight lifting workout with my trainer this morning, I got REALLY dizzy and nearly fell off my cycle during spin class this afternoon. I ate enough food before going, so it was kinda freaky. I just took it easy during the final song when this happened. I'm still battling some congestion and coughing, so maybe that has my immune system run down right now still. I'll probably take tomorrow off to try to get my strength back. To make matters worse, the weather just changed dramatically by about 25 degrees today, so that's gonna wreak havoc on my sinuses. UGH!

Russell Stover Net Carb Chocolate Mousse Medallions

9:30PM
2 ounces cashews

CURRENT WEIGHT: 262.6

NOTE: Mondays are a great time to just jump right into an exercise routine. That's why I get to the gym early on Monday mornings to do that step class. It's quite a challenge and gets my week off on the right foot...er, so to speak. Adding in a spin class in the evening rounds out the day. Today I felt the need to eat more than normal. I don't know why I was so hungry today, but I couldn't stop eating. Maybe my body is realizing I'm not gonna let up on the intensity and consistency of my workout schedule, so it's fueling me up for the extra exercise. Whatever it is, I'm feeling fabulous with it and can't wait to see what all of this will do for my conditioning, strength, and endurance.

Sunday, September 14, 2008

September 14, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

12:00PM
2 ounces cashews

12:30PM
2 slices Sami's Bakery low-carb cinnamon raisin whole grain bread with butter

8:30PM
Russell Stover Net Carb Chocolate Mousse Medallions

10:00PM
2 ounces cashews

CURRENT WEIGHT: 263.0

NOTE: I'm hoping today was the last UGH day of this cold I've been battling. It's already hard enough trying to be consistent in my workouts and continuing to eat right when I feel GOOD, much less when I feel miserable and just want to eat and sleep. But I resisted the urge to slack off because I am fully committed 100% to this new Jimmy Moore who enjoys DAILY exercise that's both fun and energizing. That's honestly how I feel right now and I hope it never ever wanes. Sure, some of my tiredness could be from all the extra activity. But that nagging cough and phlegm is getting to be rather cumbersome and old. Leave my body, you filthy Satan! :P

September 13, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

1:30PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

9:00PM
Low-carb lemon cheesecake (whipped cream cheese, lemon juice, erythritol, and heavy cream) with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 261.6

NOTE: My body may finally be getting closer to beating this cold because I didn't want to get up today. I slept later than I've slept in a long time and I suppose my body needed it more than I realized. While I didn't feel very well for most of the day, I did venture out to my gym's parking lot after it closed this evening and did parking lot suicides from the front door of the gym to the edge of the road...about 40 parking spaces. This was much further than the 25 or so parking spaces we ran at FitCamp a few weeks ago, so it was quite a challenge. I zipped through most of them pretty well until the last few--UGH! The sun was shining, but there was a nice breeze that refreshed me in the midst of the agony so I could press on. With just two left, I started getting a little dizzy, so I started walking for the first time until that went away. Then I jogged the first half of the final lap to the curb and then sprinted the second half all the way to the end. My time was 16:09 and I want to get that to under 15:00 very soon. It felt great and I was drenched with sweat when that was over. But it felt AMAZING!

Cinnamon cheesecake (whipped cream cheese, cinnamon, erythritol, and heavy cream)

CURRENT WEIGHT: 264.0

NOTE: Oh, this miserable summer cold is kicking my butt right now! I have been battling with my energy levels this week because of this nagging little cough that just won't let up. I hate it because I REALLY want to be doing MORE exercise, but I realize trying to do too much while I'm still sick will just run me down some more. So I'm taking it easy relatively speaking and doing what I can do. I'd love for the cold to just GO AWAY so I can go on with my life already. :)

Christine and I went out to a Japanese hibachi table for supper tonight and it was so much fun watching the food flying through the air with flames flying high to the ceiling while the cook soaked in all the ooohs and ahhhs from the kids (okay, from me too!). And the meal was quite low-carb with the lone exception of that one scoop of sherbet at the end which probably had 15g carbs in it. I can live with that. It was a nice "date night" time together and we stayed up watching some movies until midnight. I LOVE spending time with Christine and wish we had more hours in the day to do this kinda stuff together.

3:00PM
Sugar-free dark chocolate raspberry Jello pudding with whipped cream

9:00PM
Russell Stover Net Carb Chocolate Mousse Medallions

10:00PM
2 ounces of roasted cashews

CURRENT WEIGHT: 263.2

NOTE: This week has been an interesting one for me. I've felt the ill effects of a summer cold I came down with at FitCamp a couple of weeks ago still hammering down on me. I noticed it as I was doing my spin class today and couldn't stop coughing. Then when I was getting ready for bed, the phlegm just start building and building...EWWWW, I know! It's hard enough to get motivated to exercise and be active when you feel GOOD, much less when subtle cold symptoms decide to rear their ugly head again. But I pushed through it and got in my workout. However, I realize that getting rest is important which is why I took a day off yesterday and most of the day today. I'll be monitoring how I feel and act accordingly. Hopefully I'll be back to my normal self again this weekend so I can make up for the slack in the latter part of this week with my exercise.

September 10, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

12:15PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

2:00PM
Dark chocolate ChocoPerfection bar

3:00PM

5:00PM
Sugar-free dark chocolate raspberry Jello pudding with whipped cream

8:00PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

CURRENT WEIGHT: 261.4

NOTE: After four hours of exercise yesterday, I had to take today off from physical activity. My body was feeling it with what my personal trainer did to me for an hour yesterday along with three more hours of vigorous cardiovascular workouts. WHEW! But that's okay...resting I am learning is as important if not MORE important than the activity itself. Where most people get into trouble is they rest TOO MUCH and never get back into moving their bodies again. But today I took it easy and consciously cut back on my calories knowing I wouldn't be as active today as I normally would be. That's one thing FitCamp especially taught me--being mindful of my calories making sure they are high enough on days I exercise and slightly lower on days I am not. You'll also note that I didn't have any fruit today since I didn't exercise. I'm limiting my intake of such things to workout days exclusively to ward off the dizzy spells. It's worked relatively well for me with an occasional bout of dizziness when I work especially hard at the gym. We're still tinkering with this to see what will work best for me so I can perform at my optimum level physically.

CURRENT WEIGHT: 260.2

NOTE: I am certifiably a madman now--FOUR HOURS OF EXERCISE TODAY!!! After going another one-hour session with my personal trainer this morning, I got the bright idea to add a spin class to my workout schedule ending just minutes before my regular volleyball on Tuesday nights. And, to my surprise, I did okay. I noticed I started sweating sooner at volleyball than I normally do, but my endurance was great! We went two full hours and I could have kept playing. And we were even short a few players tonight, so we had to play 3-on-3--LOTS OF RUNNING! It felt amazing. Of course, when I got home and laid down to go to bed, I felt that tingle tingle tingle of all the exercise in my body and something tells me I'll be taking a day off tomorrow. This is truly the life!

CURRENT WEIGHT: 262.2

NOTE: I decided to get adventurous adding in some new cardio workouts to my routine today doing a step class at my gym for the first time. Boy, I must have looked pretty dorky! It's a great workout and I was sweating like a dog throughout the class, so I suppose we can say "mission accomplished" on giving me a challenge. The instructor of the class is someone I know who used to go to my church, so that helped knowing she'd understand my ineptitude. She asked if I had ever done step class before and sounded surprised when I said this was my inaugural venture into this. She said to come back, so I guess I didn't do too badly after all. I did another spin class today trying to stick with my 3-times-a-week pledge and I love it--except for my butt hurting on that seat. I think I'll take Shari's suggestion to go buy a gel seat cover for these rides since I'll be doing a bunch of them! My weight was slightly up today, but I'm not worried. I FEEL FABULOUS and nobody can take that away from me. :)

September 7, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

8:30AM
2 slices Sami's Bakery low-carb cinnamon raisin bread with butter

11:45PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

2:15PM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

2:30PM
15-minute shooting basketball
5-minute wall squats
45-minute treadmill hill sprint intervals

4:00PM
60-minute mowing grass

6:15PM
Dreamfields pasta macaroni and cheese

6:45PM
3 ounces of roasted cashews

9:00PM
Homemade mashed cauliflower (cauliflower, cheese, butter, heavy cream, salt and pepper)

9:15PM
Sugar-free dark Jello chocolate raspberry pudding with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 260.8

NOTE: I was supposed to play basketball at my church this afternoon, but when I got there nobody else showed up. So, rather than skipping my workout time disguised as play, I decided to make up my own workout. I shot hoops for a little bit and then headed to my gym. Once there I got in some wall squats (harder than they look!) and proceeded to go through some treadmill sprints while watching a little NFL football on the TV screens. After a brief warm-up, I increase the incline in heavy increments until I hit 15.0--the highest incline it will go. Then I bump up the speed to a level where I have to run and do 30-second bursts before jumping off to the sides for 30-second rests. It's quite a workout and I actually enjoy it now more than when Isabeau Miller put us through it at FitCamp. And dumb me thought after all of that exercise that I could handle mowing the grass for an hour when I got home from the gym. Boy, I was so tired I couldn't even blog a bit when all that was finished! And you KNOW I'm beat when I don't blog. :)

September 6, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

11:00AM
2 slices Sami's Bakery low-carb cinnamon raisin bread with butter, 1/2 cantaloupe with whipped cream

1:15PM
30-minute weight lifting workout, 15-minute parking lot suicide sprints

4:00PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

7:00PM
Homemade no-bake lemon cheesecake (cream cheese, lemon juice, heavy whipping cream, and whipped cream)

10:15PM
Dark chocolate ChocoPerfection bar

CURRENT WEIGHT: 262.6

NOTE: I must have been plumb out of my mind today--PARKING LOT SUICIDE SPRINTS!!! This great nemesis from my FitCamp experience has worked its way into my routine now and I'm committing to doing them at least once a week. They're very tough, but the payoff in endurance over the long-run will be incredible. I'm already feeling 100 times better although my weight hasn't really reduced significantly. That's okay because I'm not really focusing intently on that right now. Getting my body into tip-top shape is priority #1 for me and getting in my daily exercise with the occasional day off will be the sign of success in my eyes. I'm enjoying this diet and health plan right now and hope to make it a long-term success that will reap huge benefits. THANKS for following my journey on this. :)

1 slice of Sami's Bakery low-carb cinnamon raisin bread

1:30PM
1/2 cantaloupe with whipped cream

9:30PM
Dark chocolate ChocoPerfection bar

CURRENT WEIGHT: 264.2

NOTE: I got so busy today on a project that was giving me major headaches that I missed my time at the gym--and I TRULY missed it! I'm not having the "oh no, I've blown it now" kinda missed it that most people fall into the trap of, but I really didn't want to skip my lift day. It just means I'll need to get it in tomorrow so I don't slip back into the habit of NOT doing it again. I feel GREAT when I'm on a schedule of exercising in some form or fashion just about everyday. It was good to have a day off today, but I'm ready to get back at it again tomorrow. I probably would not have eaten the fruit had I known I was not going to workout today. It's not gonna kill me, but I'd prefer to save those carbs for days when I am at the gym. :)

8:15AM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

2:00PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

3:00PM

7:45PM
2 turkey and cheese low-carb wrap with salad greens and mayo

9:00PM
Dark chocolate ChocoPerfection bar

CURRENT WEIGHT: 263.2

NOTE: Today was a rather "taxing" day (all pun intended!) as Christine and I sat in the office of an accountant working on our 2007 taxes. Yes, I know it's late, but we filed for an extension and just got to deal with it today. It took over four hours to go through all the possible deductions and deal with this...and I was getting VERY hungry through it all. Thankfully I did get to eat a nice meal afterwards and even had the energy to do a spin class this afternoon. We did three spin classes at FitCamp, so I'm gonna keep this in my routine (although that tiny little seat KILLS my butt every time!). By the way, some people have been asking if I'm gonna keep the fruit in my diet. For now, the answer is YES. It's helping with the dizziness and if I'm gonna be vigorously exercising like I have been then I think my body needs it. Will I ALWAYS need it? Who knows? But it is helping me for now.

September 3, 2008 Low-Carb Menu

11:30AM
Turkey and cheese low-carb wrap with salad greens and mayo

2:30PM
1/2 honeydew melon with whipped cream

3:15PM
Roasted almonds

4:00PM
30-minute uphill treadmill, 15-minute jumping, shuffling, wall squats, and running

7:45PM
Eggs with green peppers, onions, red peppers, pico de gallo, sour cream, green beans, broccoli, squash with butter, bacon and sausage

10:00PM
Sugar-free dark Jello chocolate raspberry pudding with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 265.6

NOTE: I've enjoyed adding back in some fruit to my diet since FitCamp because it really does help me with my workouts. Whereas I used to get dizzy about 20 minutes into a strenuous workout, now I can go almost a full hour and power through with virtually no trouble at all. I don't know if it's the extra carbs or what, but I like the way I feel when I'm NOT dizzy during workouts. The benefits certainly outweigh the negatives at this point, so I will continue this. And to be honest, eating melon is not a big deal. At least it's REAL FOOD! :)

12:00AM
Sugar-free dark Jello chocolate raspberry pudding with whipped cream

CURRENT WEIGHT: 263.0

NOTE: I'm getting bold in my workouts now because of FitCamp and today was further evidence of this. Rather than my typical 30-minute weight lifting session with my trainer Kelvin, I bumped it up to a full hour. WHEW! And he worked me hard. GOOD! I'm ready to keep this momentum going from the past two weeks. And I got in my two hours of fun cardio exercise with volleyball which I was able to do with NO problems at all tonight. No real pain or fatigue at all. WOO HOO! It was a good day.

CURRENT WEIGHT: 265.8

NOTE: Back home from FitCamp and I'm trying to get my bearings straight. I feel so out of the loop right now and today I caught up on my sleep just a bit. My body needed the rest and I am anxious to get back into my routine again this week while adding in some of the things I've learned over the past two weeks. This includes the inclined sprint intervals on the treadmill today. WHEW! I would have NEVER done this before FitCamp, so I'm looking forward to the challenge this will give my body. I want to eat more often than I did today, but I'm still trying to figure out where I am right now. The last two weeks has been such a blur! :)
