NOTE: Today was one of those days where I went non-stop all day long. It started early when I took my wife Christine to go see a rheumatologist about her chronic pain issue and that appointment went so long that I had to leave her there while I got back to the office to record a podcast show I had scheduled for 11:00am. When that was finished, I went back to get Christine and came home to prepare for another interview later in the day. Meanwhile, I was catching up on a bunch of e-mails and checking my podcast show web site to make sure my "Encore Week" show for today was up and running. I barely had any time to blog today and there's a LOT of write about! Some days are like this and it keeps me going. I noticed after eating all those veggies at lunch that I was hungry three hours later. Mind you, I ate eggs, bacon, and sausage which should have satiated my hunger, but there I was needing something to eat in the early evening. Those meatballs and cheese were VERY filling and fueled my volleyball game tonight.

Jimmy, I have a silly question for you. Just wondering why you post your calories, but not your carbs?

2 diet sodas. These "occaisional" sweets are getting regular.

Fair enough. But it's not 10-12 anymore. I'll see if I can go a few days in between, but so far the weight has not been adversely impacted.

THANKS Sadekat and that's not a silly question at all. But I've also addressed this MANY times before. I've been eating this way for so long that I don't really need to count the carbs anymore since I know my limits with them. Anyone interested in seeing the carb, fat, and protein counts of my menus can run them through FitDay to see what they are. As for listing the calories, that's to make sure I'm eating enough of them each day. Hope this helps! :)

I'm just wondering if Christine has been tested for celiac's yet? Perhaps she should be on low-carb to help with the chronic pain?

Jimmy Moore said...

We've discussed it, Sue. She's slowly coming to the realization that it's POSSIBLY her problem.

Fair enough Jimmy. Not planning on wasting time to go count carbs for you though. :p

THANKS Sadekat. Never expected you to do that, just made it as a suggestion for anyone interested in those exact numbers. :) I can tell you this, I try to keep my carbs below 40g daily. Thank you again!

Congratulations on getting into the 230's, Jimmy!

Regarding the carb counting thing, the top of this blog says, "What does a low-carb dieter REALLY eat? Find out here by seeing what 180-pound Atkins diet weight loss success and "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb" blogger Jimmy Moore eats."

If that is so, wouldn't it be helpful to post the carb count so inquiring minds can see why you're making the food choices you are making? Possibly including the total carb count and the net carb count as well? Without the carb counts, newbies might have a hard time understanding why you eat full fat sour cream, cheese and butter rather than the low-fat lower-calorie alternatives.

Good points, Stargazey! But they can see what I'm eating by the foods I'm posting. I don't know how listing the carbohydrate counts would tell people why full-fat sour cream is better than low-fat. That said, I could add the total carbohydrates to the list, too, but I might as well list the fat and protein, too, if I'm gonna do that. You guys just want me to work a little more. :) THANKS for the suggestions!

I don't know how listing the carbohydrate counts would tell people why full-fat sour cream is better than low-fat.

Because it has fewer carbs than low-fat sour cream?

Jimmy Moore said...

I suppose I thought that was common knowledge, but maybe not for everyone. THANKS again Stargazey! :)

Hi Jimmy,
I understand why you don't post carb amounts-more work-and regular low-carbers know it's very low. What's always amazed me is that you keep up with and figure out the calories. I'm way too lazy for that! On my menus I post what I eat without amounts even, much less calories and carbs.
I do think posting calories could help people see that the calories don't matter that much.
