NOTE: Today was Day 3 of Week three on The 6-Week Cure For The Middle-Aged Middle by Drs. Mike and Mary Dan Eades. And I woke up with one of the worst sore throats I've ever had in my life this morning. Plus my body was achy, tired, and generally lethargic for most of the day. It made this LIVE interview I did today on a radio program quite interesting, but I think I came across okay even though I felt so crappy. But I pushed through the pain and made it through my day the best I could. I HATE taking any drugs of any kind, but I took some Tylenol Cold to help nip this thing in the bud. Wish me well!
On the 6-Week Cure front, I did fairly well today except for the ice cream. My throat was on fire and I'd drunk so much water to try to cool it down -- but nothing was taming this beast! Yes, I loved every bite of the ice cream while it gave my throat some much-needed relief. The good news is my weight is coming back down despite the ice cream and Christine continues to excel pushing below a certain goal that she had in place a few weeks back. I'm so proud of her and we even bought her a brand new dress that she will be wearing to a wedding in Nashville we're attending this weekend. She's AMAZING!

Hope you are feeling better very soon, Jimmy! Christine's progress is giving me much needed hope. Dh and I started Week 3 today, and I am only down about 2.5 pounds and 1" off my waist. Then again, I am 55, so I might be battling hormones, we'll see. Like you, I got very tired of the sweet shakes 3X a day and am looking forward to real meals. We gave blood yesterday which was a wonderful experience. We are both just a little down about weight loss the past two weeks, but are trying to keep in mind that it is weeks 3-4 that the majority of the loss happens. How are you both keeping your spirits up?? Any suggestions?
I' sorry you are sick. This happened to me, 2x in two weeks and I haven't been sick once since going 'low-carb' 6 months ago!
Whenever I had a sugary carb, however, it made the sickness worse.
Try to drink protein shakes with ice, coconut oil and spinach. That really helped me.
Jimmy,
Sounds like you have strep throat, a bacterial infection. Rinsing, gargling with salt water will help but you may need antibiotics. If cold symptoms persist, soar throat may be viral and antibiotics won't help. Your imune system will take care of it. Good luck.
Just a suggestion Jimmy. You've had icecream twice in the last four days and I wonder if it's a reaction to dairy en masses? I've been feeling much better since I cut out all dairy except for butter 6 weeks ago. Before that I was getting colds every couple of months. Thrilled for Christine! Hope that happens for me too when I start meat-eating tomorrow.
Possible, jaxz. We'll keep monitoring it.
THANKS Coyote! I'm feeling better today with no more sore throat as of late this afternoon. Trying to hold off the congestion and cough.
What is Christine eating for her 3 meat meals? Nell
Nell, Christine is eating basically the same foods as I am except for the breakfast stuff. She stays up late at night, so she sleeps in morning. Otherwise, she eats what I do.
I hope you feel better Jimmy! Its so sweet you said Crhistine was a amazing...awwww. :-)
Jimmy - Harry suggested I point you to this and I think that is a great idea.... Linda Sue's family is facing some hardship right now due to her husband needing a liver transplant... more info here http://genaw.com/lowcarb/updates6.html Maybe you could pass along the word to your readers?
Angie/Harry,
Thanks for letting me know.
Oooh are we going to see pictures of you and the Christine in her new dress :)
