NOTE: It's day 19 of my eggfest and you'll notice my egg intake was up by 33% today: 12 eggs (960 calories) with 5 tablespoons of butter (500 calories), and 3 ounces of cheddar cheese (270 calories) for a total of 1730 calories. Today I deliberately added in more eggs to get my protein up a little more than it was. This is still a very high-fat, moderate protein, low-carb nutritional approach and now I've added in raw butter and raw cheddar cheese. I got a HUGE shipment in the mail today with 18 pounds of raw butter and 9 pounds of raw cheese. WOO HOO! Yes, my refrigerator looks odd to most people stocked full of fresh pastured eggs, raw butter, and raw cheese. I LOVE IT!
One of my recent podcast guests was Stanley Fishman (author of Tender Grassfed Meats) who came up with a fabulous "eggfest"-inspired recipe that you will want to check out. He said he affectionately calls it "The Jimmy Moore":

THE JIMMY MOORE
4 eggs
4 ounces hard cheddar cheese, full fat
4 tablespoons butter
1. Chop the cheese into very small pieces.
2. Break the eggs into a bowl and mix well with a fork.
3. Add the cheese to the eggs and mix well.
4. Heat the butter in a medium sized skillet over medium heat until the butter melts.
5. Add the egg/cheese mixture to the butter and start stirring the mixture in a clockwise direction with a fork as it cooks.
6. Continue to cook and stir until the eggs set. They should set within a few minutes and look just like the photo of the recipe.
SERVES 2.
One of my readers provided some analysis about my eggfest and he states that no matter what happens on my eggfest it has been a resounding success:
Your egg diet is "egg"zactly what you need right now, no matter how it goes. Being able to finally see that food can be just fuel allows for a paradigm shift where the idea of food as practically a drug is dropped even if only for a little while...that undeniable fact that the body is an awesome machine that does not have to follow the dictates we are taught to believe....You're breaking through the mental barrier of food-as-fuel that eventually leads to a real appreciation of the majesty that is nature, and by extension the human body.
He's right! Some MAJOR changes have happened inside my head and body that would have never happened had it not been for this eggfest. I will not regret taking these measures to help me rid myself of the diet soda (ONE WEEK OFF OF THEM!!!) and other artificial junk I no longer need. Anyone who struggles with this, I HIGHLY encourage you to try a very high-fat, adequate protein, very low-carb ketogenic approach to take away the cravings yourself. Is anyone else who is on the eggfest with me experiencing this too?
Here's the funny egg pic for today that hopefully brightens your day:

Hello Jimmy,
Getting rid of the diet sodas and all sweet taste has to be a big plus for you and your health. I control my diabetes very well with Low Carb and exercise, no meds. I am working of moving a little weight off, so I stay in a constant state of Ketosis. I have found that anything sweet kicks me right out. The fat burning switch is turned off. I love to put Xylitol in my tea with heavy cream. Can’t do it, it kicks me right out of ketosis. The thing is that anything sweet will cause an INSULIN response whether there is a sugar spike not.
Thanks for your good work,
Carl
For the recipe, step 5: is it OK to stir in a counter clockwise direction if we're left-handed? (just kidding!).
My scrambled eggs look nothing like that. I let my pan get very hot so the butter gets a bit brown (or sometimes VERY brown) and then pour and stir the eggs very fast. I find it enhances the taste.
But that's just me.
Hey Jimmy, thank you for being an inspiration! Even though I've been on a low-carb diet for quite some time now (about 14 months) I still get heavy cravings and binge now and then. I've read about all-egg diets before and since I just love eggs I've thought about trying it, but haven't gotten around to it until now, when I read about your Egg-fest in the livin la vida low-carb blog a cpl of days ago.
And now I was just like "Well, let's get on with it!" So, I've been eating just eggs, butter, parmesan cheese and a small amount of veggies (they were in the fridge and I don't like wasting food) for three days, and there are no cravings an no urge to binge.
I really wonder what's in eggs that's so fantastic or if it's just the power of really making up your mind that makes it easy to keep it up.
Anyway, very well done with the sodas and than you for inspiring me to do something good for myself!
Isabelle, I was in the same boat as you. When I interviewed the Eades on my podcast way back in 2008, I was already thinking of doing an all-egg diet...but it took me 2 years to begin. Now that I have, I'm so glad I did. It's incredible how much all your desire for something sweet just gets zapped! Maybe I can try to find a food psychologist or doctor to explain the biochemical mechanism at work here. I don't really care because my healthy lifestyle just got better thanks to this miracle. :)
Sylvie, I accidentally got my eggs to do what you do with yours the other day when Christine wanted to eat some. I fried hers up over hard and then made mine in the hot browned butter and they got all golden brown crunchy on me with an intense taste. It wasn't my cup of tea, but it was certainly a different taste than the soft country scrambled I usually make.
Carl, that's one thing I've learned during this eggfest experience--I really can't have anything "sweet" if I want to blast the fat off of me while keeping my stellar health intact. But the good thing is SOMETHING is making me not want those things--could be the satiating power of the fat and protein I'm eating, the large amount of ketone bodies swimming around in me, or any number of things. All I know is I don't want 'em and that's a HUGE step forward in my health.
Jimmy, looking forward to seeing a progress pic soon. By the way, where do you order your cheese and butter from?
THANKS James! Not sure you can "see" any change in me, although Christine says she notices it. I haven't yet other than knowing my pants fit better. The raw butter and cheese were ordered online from U.S. Wellness Meats because I couldn't find a local supplier. Well now I have! :) They're pretty good so far, although the cheese is not as good as I thought it would be. Oh well, I've got nine pounds of it to eat! :D
Hi, Jimmy,
I am in the purple this morning. Yay, me! I spoke to a few people online about what you and I and several others are doing. Some think we are off our trolley. Then again they do not bother with research. Others think its an interesting experiment and are awaiting my first week's results. Oh, and I should also take a picture of how my eggs look coming out of the microwave. LOL
Take care,
Lora
WAY TO GO, Lora!!! That's been the neat thing about this for me, too. I haven't been out of purple on the Ketostix in three weeks! Quite frankly, I have no concern with what others think about what I'm doing with this eggfest...it's my body and I'm doing what I think is best for it right now. You keep it up, Lora!!!
Hey Jimmy!
Awesome that you are sticking with it. Today I am starting an induction-style lifestyle to last until May 1st. You really inspired me to do it! I have to balance 50% fat and 50% protein as I lift weights/exercise intensely so I need about 200 grams of protein a day. The way I make sure to do this is to eat about a pound of shrimp and then eggs/butter/cheese/grass-fed ground beef.
When you are at a better (for you) place, weight-wise, I strongly encourage you to (re)read Dr. Kurt Harris' "Smoking Candy Cigarettes" blog posting. In your interview with him, this was the only point you two differed on, but it sounds like you understand now where he is coming from.
Keep it up! Through your site and podcasts I have become so well educated and can preach the gospel to non-believers! ;)
Hey Juan, thank you for commenting! You go with your Induction phase, although 50% protein seems pretty high even for a weight lifter. Do what's right for you. I'm very familiar with Dr. Harris' column and he even mentioned he was going to be releasing that column when I interviewed him on my podcast earlier this year. It's not that I disagreed with his reasoning for forgoing the sweet stuff, but my body was unwilling to give it up--until this eggfest. I really want to explore why and how the cravings have just disappeared for me all of a sudden so maybe it can help others struggling as I have. I'm not saying I'm home free on licking the sweet habit just yet, but I'm well on my way. Thank you again for your encouragement!
Hi Jimmy, I have been following you and doing your eggfest for 4 days now...Has been going good and I have been dropping about a pound a day..Was hoping for more, but I will take it..I am not doing quite as many eggs as you, as i am not that hungry..I have been having either 4 or 5 a day with that many tablespoons butter and ounces of cheese...I will continue until Easter, have my easter steak and then back to eggs on monday....thanks for being such an inspiration, I love reading your posts..keep up the great work...I love zero carb way of eating, it is so freeing and I love what it has done for my entire mind, body and spirit the past 2 months....Stacy
Hey Stacy, thanks for your comments and congratulations on your success on the eggfest. A POUND A DAY IS AMAZING! Why would you want MORE than that? If you had 100 pounds to lose, then you'd hit goal in just over three months! LOL! Perspective, my friend, perspective. Watch this video Christine and I did on this subject last year.
Very high-fat, very low-carb eating is okay for a period of time and then transitioning back to good habits that keep YOU happy and healthy is the way to go. For some that means a continued very low-carb diet and others can consume more veggies and carbohydrate sources than others. We are all individuals and need to find what will work for our bodies. I'm proud of you my friend!
Thanks for the video link, LOVED it, and helped me ALOT....I felt likt it was written just for ME!!!!
It was and you're not alone! I get e-mails from people about this EVERY SINGLE DAY! :) Be encouraged.
