August 29, 2010 Low-Carb Menu

8:45AM
1/2 pound grassfed ground beef cooked in 1 Tbs bacon grease

12:45PM
6-ounce salmon steak, 1/2 cup grilled asparagus, 1/2 cup grilled green beans with 3 Tbs butter

7:00PM
6-ounce sirloin steak with 1 cup broccoli and 3 Tbs butter

CALORIES: 2069
TOTAL CARBS: 27g
NET CARBS: 16g

NOTE: Had an incredible salmon steak for lunch today with some grilled veggies that were out of this world. When food is cooked well, you can make a healthy meal taste divine. Of course, steak in my not-so-humble opinion is the ultimate nirvana of livin' la vida low-carb, but a good piece of fish with proper seasoning can be an appetizing alternative to shake things up. And I LOVE my salmon when I have it, too. Good stuff! Had a few more veggie carbs today than I have been since starting on this no-yeast (no cheese, sour cream, mustard, etc.) plan a few days back. Taking probiotics three times throughout the day has been an interesting experiment, too. Remembering to do it is the biggest challenge, but I just keep the bottle out on the table to remember. I'm hopeful this plan is getting me back on the right track again.

It looks like you're on the right track, your menus are spot-on healthy for the last 3 days. Low carbs but still a good amount of calories leads to good health.

Judging from the picture I see I would say there is more than 1/2 cup asparagus and 1/2 cup green beans on that plate...

Or maybe the angle is deceiving...?

It's possible there was more than that on the plate, but the tiny little salmon steak may be making it seem larger. Even still, the calories wouldn't be too much different. :)

Maybe your weight gain has to do with your body having become too effient at Neo-gluco-gensis.

Would you consider trying out Metformin again just to check that out?

Alrighty then, but if that's the case then the salmon steak wasn't 6 ounces (6 ounces makes for a piece of fish...).

Anyhow, looks good...

All I know is the salmon steak was tiny to me. I could have eaten three that size.

I'm on a plan right now RandoMan, so no Metfirmin for me at this time. Plus, I'm trying to figure this out with a non-pharmaceutical answer if possible. It could be that I'll eventually need it, but for now I'm letting food be my medicine.
