NOTE: I spoke with a respected physician about my weight gain in 2010 and this person has agreed to analyze my situation with me in a one-on-one talk this weekend. I'm hopeful that we'll be able to hammer out any culprit areas in what I'm doing to figure this thing out for good. I'm also in the process of running some tests to see if they add another clue to this ongoing puzzle. If and when I ever figure this puppy out, I may have to write a book about it or something. LOL!

Jimmy, do you have any menus from back in 2005 when you were maintaining your weight loss eating 100g-125g carb/day? Or going back further to 2004 while losing the weight. You were also exercising regularly at that time and working outside the home, right? I truly believe the key for you lies in identifying what it is you're doing differently now compared to then.
You might not get the same result again from this start point, but to me that seems a good place to start looking for answers.
I also think that since you put so much "out there" on your blogs, it might help you to go back and re-read what was going on over the years and what has changed.
Some things we have no control over. You're headed towards 40 and our metabolisms slow down. So, again, what worked at 32-33 may not work as well now. Still, it is worth considering. Where there's a will there's a way to deal with this because I somehow managed to lose and maintain and go through menopause all in the past 3 years. It just really does sometimes take a bit of self experimentation and (aack, I'm really not the best at this one) discipline.
Hope things get better for you weightwise in 2011. Happy New Year!!
I started this menus blog in December 2007...I don't have recorded menus prior to that. But I did chronicle what I ate in 2005 when I lost the weight initially in my first book and have attempted on several occasions to replicate this eating pattern. The results are not the same as they were before.
I am 7 years older now and I'm beginning to believe in the whole "set point" theory about weight that the body wants to weigh a certain amount and will fight you tooth and nail to be there. I'm exercising pretty regularly now, but perhaps I need to boost that part of my lifestyle again.
Re-reading my old blogs is a great idea, CarbSane, and I'll take a look at what I've done before. Clearly something is going on that's not "clicking" right now, but I'm not gonna worry myself sick about it. It is what it is right now and there's not much I can do about it beyond living day by day the best I know how.
You said the "D" word. LOL! Yes, I probably have quite a bit of it...just need to point it in the right direction. THANKS for your encouragement! Look forward to sharing my interview with you on January 17, 2011. :D
