February 28, 2011 Low-Carb Menu

11:45AM
9-ounce sirloin steak with pepper seasoning, 1/2 cup mashed cauliflower with 3 Tbs butter
2 ounces sugar-free dark chocolate

2:00PM
60-minute massage mostly on my lower back

8:45PM
7-ounce sirloin steak with pepper seasoning, 1/4 cup grilled zucchini and 1/4 cup mashed cauliflower with 3 Tbs butter

NOTE: Thankfully I was able to see my massage therapist today and she worked on that lower back for about 45 minutes trying to relieve the pain. And she did a fabulous job of it, too. I was still in a lot of pain when I woke up today and it felt light years better when she was finished. Hoping tomorrow continues the healing trend as I skipped my volleyball tonight and likely my yoga tomorrow morning. You don't know how tempting it has been to eat something a little "bad" while I haven't felt my best these past few days. I mean, who wouldn't want a little sugar therapy to drowned away the pain, right? Well, thankfully I still have a good head on my shoulders and I've resisted that urge to you know what. It's just not worth messing up a good thing. This Friday's weigh-in will probably reflect my inability to exercise for most of this week and perhaps a few extra calories in my diet as of late...but I'm not concerned. The trend is still downward and I'm gonna do all I can to get it moving again if there is any roadblock in my way. I remain undeterred.

Jimmy,

Just to let you know, I just got an email from Arthur De Vany's website stating that he will be featured on ABC's Nightline tonight (March 1st). I believe this is the special that will also feature Robb Wolf. It is on at 11:35 eastern time.

I exercise, and I still am having trouble loosing weight. I think it all works out in the end. Looks vs. weight loss. Why can't there be an INBETWEEN ?? I spoke about this very subject on my blog today ! Keep up the great work Jimmy. Oh yeah, I even mentioned YOU !

Jimmy,

Thanks for the link, but I was able to catch it last night. By the way, my name is Lawrence, it just comes up as Richard Dawkins because that is my Internet alias, because he is one of my favorite scientists and I never bothered to change it.

Overall, I was impressed with the Nightline story on the Paleo diet, though it was a little light on the details. One thing that I noticed is that the reporter was not as antagonistic towards the Paleo/low carbohydrate message as I thought he would be (he only expressed apprehension about eating fat on his meat), and Nightline even had two nutritionists in this segment confirm that the Paleo lifestyle was healthy.

And I love the fact that they showed Robb Wolf do all those amazing acrobatic moves in his gym, as well as show the near Greek god like shape that Arthur Devany was in, when he was pulling his SUV. If anyone is skeptical about the efficacy of the Paleo/low carbohydrate lifestyle providing physical vitality, both Dr. Devany and Mr. Wolf put such skepticism to rest.

It seems that given the mostly glowing review that a mainstream TV news program like Nightline is giving Paleo, that the outlook on diet maybe changing for the better. Jimmy, it is only a matter of time before a news program like Nightline interviews you, and I just can't wait.
