NOTE: Sometimes it can seem like progress in our health/fitness routine has slowed immensely or come to a screeching halt--but something today reminded me that is not at all the case. I was in my Pilates/yoga class and a friend from church was there trying the class for the first time since she's a teacher enjoying her Spring break week off. I've been doing these classes twice a week for a while and sometimes feel like I'm not getting any more flexible or fit. But watching my church friend and this dear older overweight woman struggling to do even the simplest postures and movement told me I'm a lot better off physically than I was when I first began. I know if they just stick with this--no matter how frustrating it gets for them--that they'll reach a point where they notice the progress they've made as well and be proud of just how far they've come.
The same can be said of our diets. It's easy to forget how awful our nutrition looked prior to livin' la vida low-carb and the perspective change that has taken place from what it was then to what it is now. My whole mode of thinking right now regarding what I eat is radically different than at any other point in my life. That's why it's so laughable to me when I hear criticism about the way I eat from perfectly well-meaning people who are I believe trying to be helpful. The 410-pound Jimmy Moore would have blown off nitpicking about his diet as meaningless because he didn't give a rip about what he was continually shoving into his pie hole. Good nutrition was the furthest from his mind. But 2011 Jimmy Moore is extremely conscious of what he's consuming and isn't always 100% perfect--nor does he think it's necessary as long as he sticks to plan most of the time. And I'll stop speaking in the third person like I'm Bob Dole long enough to say that's exactly what he does.
My weigh-in today showed me down one pound from last week and I'm sure it could have been more if I stuck with just meat and eggs...I'm trying to see if there's a happy medium between being super-duper strict in the diet sticking with just a few foods and changing things up a bit by allowing other foods into the mix. I'll figure out what is best for me, but I'm happy with my progress. I'm down over 30 pounds since I started this effort in January and that's nothing to sneeze at. It's been a fun ride so far and I appreciate you being here to join me. There's still a long way to go, but I'm happy to come as far as I have. It's given me the energy to do things like playing 2 1/2 hours of competitive volleyball like I did tonight (I blocked a lot of shots and made some killer spikes, too!). ROCK ON LOW-CARB LIFESTYLE!!!

I think your diet is a lot better than most people's for sure. Hang in there. I think moderation, with portions and with macros is the key. I think you can do it still. Even if it goes down 1 pound a week, in one year you'll be down 52 pounds!! Slow and steady :)
That's my goal, Flavia.
Was the mozzarella/pepperoni cheese thing inspired by the low carb pizza your guest mentioned recently on Low Carb Conversations? I've been thinking about trying it myself!
Yep Andy! That's exactly what it is inspired by Amy Dungan's pizza creation. :)
25 more pounds to go Jimmy. Don't give up!
Not giving up! :)
I think that a 30 lb. pound lose just since January is quite an accomplishment! Congratulations Jimmy. As much as I would like to lose my remaining few pounds, I believe that eating a healthier diet, which in my case is a LC/grain free diet, moving my body more and removing as much stress as I have control over, should be my goal rather than worrying about a five more lbs. I am very grateful to have found your blog two years ago.
Thank you for all that you allow us to see of your life and of your commitment to honesty. You truly have a servant's heart.
THANK YOU so much Steven! I'm grateful to have the privilege of serving people like you through my work.
Congrats on your 30# loss, Jimmy! I love checking in and seeing 'that number' getting smaller and smaller :) We're all rooting for you! Man, reading "quest bar" over and over on your menus makes me want to order some!
Catrina, the Quest Bars are awesome! Did you order the two free ones? They'll send you two for free so you can try them. I just warn you that they are addictive. :D
Jimmy, good on ya! Finding something that's doable for the rest of our lives and keeps us healthy is what it's all about.
